Sol + stice derives from Latin for sun (sol) and to stand still (stare). The solstice is when the sun appears to stand still, high in the sky; it's the longest day and shortest night of they year. The Northern Hemisphere celebrates the Summer Solstice in June - tomorrow.
So, on the eve of the longest day of the year, we found a pocket of sunshine for an evening stroll along the water's edge. We splashed in the waves, threw sand, and enjoyed the gorgeous weather. Welcome, Summer!
